Coffee, Latte, and Frappuccino

My son can now purchase coffee, latte, or frappuccino each day at school at their new coffee shop. I don't think it is sponsored by any particular brand, but I do know that my son enjoys Starbucks brand of frappuccino coffee drinks at home. I enjoy them, too, but I try to limit my consumption because they are NOT low in calories! I guess he shares my taste in these things: his Dad likes plain black coffee, but I like things like hazelnut and vanilla flavors in mine. In fact, just writing about this is making me crave something in that category! :) Is there anything that smells more delicious than a coffee shop? Mmmmm! Anyway, I digress...my son has always wanted to taste our coffee even when he was younger. For some reason, I felt that kids should not drink coffee because of the large amount of caffeine. However, I have now backed off of that idea and let him have coffee whenever he wants--he is the size of a man, so he can handle a bit of extra caffeine in his system. He buys a cup almost every day now--he says it helps him start his day. Still, I don't want him to become a "caffeine addict." I know people who truly cannot get their day started without at least 2 or 3 cups of coffee! I am SO not like that--I enjoy it as a nice treat on occasion, but I don't NEED to drink coffee every day. I drink a lot of water, and I am glad that my son also likes to drink water, although he prefers the flavored variety. So I guess a cup of coffee each school morning is normally balanced out with lots of water the rest of the day. I just hope he won't put too much sugar or additives in his drinks--he is in excellent shape right now, but it doesn't take long to pack on pounds from too much sugar. As long as he keeps it to one cup five days a week without too much sugar, he'll be ok. So enjoy! :)
