My old laptop is far from new--the shattered screen is a huge indicator that it is not new. Still, with this reinstallation process, it is working as fast and efficiently as a new computer. It's "brain" is fresh, clear, and ready to work hard now. I will also be careful not to install too much--I will keep things backed up and not put too much in the memory this time. I can see the advantage of wiping everything out and starting fresh--it turned out to be a good thing! :)
