We finally decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. It didn't make a lot of sense to put them on an expensive family plan with the potential to run up high bills--we opted for the pay-as-you-go plan with T-Mobile. They were SO excited! We told them that they have this upcoming year to prove that they are responsible and will use their minutes wisely--if they do, we will upgrade them to nicer phones next year. These are just the basic phones--they can text and talk, but little else. Next year, IF they prove that they can use them wisely, maybe we will get them camera phones/blackberries. I sure hope they learn to use their minutes sparingly. They were very happy! :)
